After winning the toss and electing to bat Hanwood was able to make a strong start with Brad Hornery and Brendan Hicken putting on 29 for the first wicket before Hornery (11) was trapped in front by Theo Valeri.
It didn't slow the progress however with Hicken continuing his excellent form from last weekend, and alongside Micheal Crosato, the pair were able to get their side to 73 before Hicken was dismissed by Luke Peruzzi (1/17).
The scoring slowed for Hanwood from their as Peruzzi and Craig Lugton kept the bowling tight with Lugton (2/23) picking up the wickets of Crosato (30) and Charlie Cunial (1) in the space of two overs.
Ben (19*) and Jack Rowston were able to get their side back on track with a 35-run stand however the bowling of Leon Vico proved to cause issues for the Hanwood lower order.
When Vico (5/7) was able to find a way through the defences of Jack Rowston (22), he ripped through the lower order picking up Ryan McWhirter (0) and Luke Catanzariti (0) in the space of three balls while Valeri took the wicket of Tom Bartter (0).
Vico finished of the Hanwood innings in the next over as he picked up the wickets of Angus Bartter (4) and Dean Wynne (0) in successive deliveries to see the home side bowled out for 136.
Diggers innings got off to a slow start with Lugton (7) falling in the fourth over to the bowling of Wynne (1/26) however Luke Peruzzi, and Theo Valeri restored balance to their innings.
The second-wicket pairing was able to put on 61 runs in 12 overs before Angus Bartter knocked over Theo Valeri (39).
Peruzzi and Tom Valeri kept the momentum moving in Diggers favour with a 39-run partnership before Cunial made a crucial breakthrough picking up Peruzzi (20) and Tom Valeri (34) in the space of four balls.
The odds were still in Diggers favour as they required 24 runs off 16 overs there would still be a couple of obstacles for Diggers to overcome.
Matt and Dean Crack were able to get their side to within 11 runs of victory before Hicken (1/14) removed Matt (9).
Ben Fattore (2) also fell with his side closing in on victory after he was caught by McWhirter off the bowling of Angus Bartter (2/33) to keep Hanwood's slim hopes of success alive.
Those hopes were quickly dashed as Crack (6*) and Brendan Wade (4*) were able to guide their side to a four-wicket victory with 7.2 overs remaining.
Diggers are the only undefeated team in the first-grade competition and will look to keep the momentum rolling when they take on Coro Cougars next weekend while Hanwood has the week off before taking on Exies Eagles.
