The Cougars won the toss and elected to bat with the opening pairing of Mathew Axtil and Harrison Steele looking to make an early impact.
The openers were able to put on 25 before Steele (8) was caught off the bowling of Duane Ashcroft, while Axtil (10) followed closely behind to see the Cougars sitting on 2/34 after 12 overs.
Haydn Pascoe and Ben Signor came together looking to get their side moving in the right direction.
It would be a while between drinks for the Eagles as Pascoe and Signor laid the foundation for what looked a solid total when their 136-run partnership over the course of 27 overs was brought to an end with Sam Breed picking up the wicket of Signor (41).
Brendan Hicken (2) followed closely when he was caught off the bowling of Breed before Pascoe (97) departed just three runs short of a hundred when he became Breed's (3/52) third victim.
Jake Rand (11) was the only other Cougar to make double digits, with Ashcroft (3/24) and Sanil Chilukuri (3/25) doing the damage as the Coro side were bowled out for a very defendable total of 203.
The top order from the Eagles stood tall and set their side off on the right foot, with Josh Davis and Craig Burge seeing off the new ball while putting runs on the board.
The first-wicket partnership but on 68 runs before Burge (29) and Davis (23) fell in the same Signor over as Exies were on 2/70 after 11 overs.
Phil Burge and Connor Bock kept the scoreboard ticking over as they looked to be making light work of the chase that looked difficult at the start.
