The two met on Tonga before moving to Australia under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility program, working as fruit-pickers and living together for three years before tying the knot and becoming Griffith's first couple to be married through the program.

The ceremony was quiet and understated, but it didn't stop young Mele Lata'i Tahi Havea from greatly enjoying her role as flowergirl for the pair.

The two were both thrilled to be living in Griffith.

"There's a lot of work here, it's good," the new Mrs Itingano said.

"It's a nice place, with a lot of nice people."

Litia Kosi is the president of the Tongan community in Griffith and vice president of the multicultural society.

She said that she was hoping this might encourage more to take advantage of the scheme.

"I would love to see it more," Mrs Kosi said.

"We would love for more to reach out to us at the multicultural office."

The happy couple said that they wouldn't be changing a great deal about their lives now that they're formally married - they would simply getting back to work and enjoying their new life together in Griffith.
