The Yoogali side was leading until late in the first half after Danny Roche continued his goal-scoring form with his seventh of the season while Jacob Donadel also found the back of the net.
That was until the Queanbeyan side struck in the second minute of added time in the first half to see the side go in level at 2-all.
The sides look destined to share the points before City struck with six minutes remaining in the match to hold on and take a 3-2 victory.

The defeat sees Yoogali sitting four points behind fourth-placed Canberra White Eagles as the sides prepare to enter the second round of the season.
Meanwhile, the under 23s fell narrowly short of their second win of the season when they fell to a 2-1 defeat to Queanbeyan.
The Yoogali side will be on the road again next weekend when they head to Canberra to take on Weston Molonglo.
