Diggers won the toss and elected to send the Nomads into bat, and in the early stages of the game, that looked to be the right decision.
Craig Lugton (2/26) picked up the wicket of James Lyell (1) and Avinash Gurram (1) while Mark Brown (2/20) picked up the dangerous Jack Weymouth-Smith (2) and Sanil Chilukuri (1) to see the Nomads struggling at 4/8.
Cooper Smith and Luke Roberts tried to give their side a chance of setting a defendable total with a 39-run stand before Damien Browning (2/23) picked up the wicket of Smith (25) and Sam Breed (0).
Shawn Iddles joined Roberts out in the middle and kept the runs ticking over before Iddles (18) was bowled by Matthew Butcher (1/29) while Roberts (25) fell to Max Goirigolzarri (2/15).
RELATED
Wayne Clarke (12), Michael Hodgson (18) and Ben Smith (15*) were able to add some late runs to help their side reach 9/131 at the end of their 40 overs.
Rocky Perre (52) was the only Diggers batsman to get a start in the top order but was still able to help his side make a strong start with a 44-run opening stand with Paresh Patil (7).
Breed (2/14), Weymouth-Smith (3/16) and Iddles (4/19) did the damage with the ball as Diggers lost 6/11 in the middle order.
Butcher (10) broke double digits, but it didn't help his side's cause as when he was run out by Breed, it saw Diggers bowled out for 97.
The Nomads will take on Coro on Exies No 2 on Saturday.
