Plenty of smiling faces at the finish line as Feral's felt they had nailed the course and were confident all would go well in the 3C Tech Shop Bacchus on the Lake.
In the long course Michael Romeo 41.40 was 1st making his swiftest appearance ever on the Hill, 18sec faster per km.
Two minutes later Adrian Baird 46.48 arrived in 2nd place then competition leader Vince Restagno 39.09 finished 3rd.
Restagno on 224 points should hold his lead and win the competition as he is 23 points ahead of Baird 201 points.
Had Baird not missed race 5, this competition grand final would have been a nail biter.
Tracey Josling was well down in the pack for races 1 and 2, missed races 4-6 then showed up for race 7 finishing 9th and the fastest female for the day.
In 1977 Area News Reported: a relatively unknown local Roy Binks ran third local in the Bacchus.12000 -- 45m13s. 44 years later Binks is still running strongly.
