The day began hot and steamy, not ideal running weather, however by 5:30pm hopeful Feral's thought we might get a spot of rain during race 6 of the Bacchus competition.

That's what we got, a spot or maybe two. Worse was to come, approaching the intersection of fire trail 29 and the track mountain bikers call "smelly sphincter", a stench consistent of that for a dead animal mid-way through a putrid decomposition process greeted the long course runners.
Aidan Fattore described it as disgusting even though as the fastest person on the course he spent the least amount of time in the vicinity. Spare a thought for Bob Barker, Darren Pooley and Lauren Carnell.
Leaving the stench behind runner enjoyed a pleasant run protected from the elements by the trees and shrubs until. Entering Rodeo Drive near gale force head winds and sand particles blasted runners.

Two of the more experienced ladies, Rita Fascianellii-McIver and Sheila Marcus both hit the dust, but in true Feral fashion finished the course.
Podium placings for the long course were Shane Howells 1st 45m20s, Michael Romeo 2nd 45m25s and Adrian Baird 3rd 48.34s. Vince Restagno ran 4th and retains a comfortable lead in the competition 28-point lead over Adrian Baird.
In the short course Callum Vecchio running his best time yet 15m48s was 1st and also now leads the short course competition by 5 points. Eva Edgcome-Lucas 20m55s was 2nd and Renee Villata was 3rd 18m37s.
There are just 2 more runs before the 3C Tech Shop Bacchus on the Lake. The Bacchus offer three events, the 10km endure around the northern lake, 5km sprint (participants don't have to sprint as it is just a name) through the sailing club and the Lake Wyangan picnic area and 8km walk around the northern lake.
