Junior cricket ended the 2020/21 season on Saturday evening with the annual day/night round of matches.
The closest game of the round was played between the Strikers and the Heat. The Strikers score of 7/84 (ave 12) just edged out the Heat's score of 9/105 (ave 11.7). Alec Brady again top scored for the Strikers with 18 runs.
He was well supported by Mia Grace-Wade who made 14 and Archie Leach who made 11. The best bowlers for the Heat were Luca DeBortoli, Cody Lucas and Roy Condon who all took two wickets. The Heat's batting was led by Miles Condon who belted 32 runs in his two overs at the crease. Hudson Crack also batted well for his 20 runs and Thomas Bray added 14 runs.
Alec Brady, Charlie Bunn, Hugo Bunn and Deen DeBortoli also picked up two wickets for the Strikers.
The Hurricanes finished their season off well, hitting up a big score of 9/129 and restricting the Sixers to 11/62. Vai Patel made 21 runs for the Hurricanes and other good contributions came from Ollie Nancarrow who made 20, Tytan Vasta, 16, Jonas Catanzariti 16 and Daniel Taylor 14.
Jordy James was the pick of the Sixers bowlers, claiming two wickets. Jordy also top scored for the Sixers with 12 runs. Xavier Hoffman made a useful 11 and Billy Collis made nine. Tytan Vasta made a big dent in the Sixers batting line up, capturing four wickets, Megh Chaudhari also did well to pick up two wickets.
The strong Stars batting line up made another big score of 8/134 and held the Thunder to 18/86 in their match. Jake Suine was the main contributor to the Stars score with 28 runs. Nate Hayliar added 18, Lachlan Spry 17, Hunter Sibraa 17 and Luke Ramsey 15.
The main wicket takers for the Thunder were Andrew Maher and Kitty Maher who both picked up two wickets. Major run scorers for the Thunder were Josh Taprell who made 23, Jake Breen 16 and Toby Rand 11.
The most successful bowlers for the Stars were Luke Ramsay and Lachlan Spry who both claimed three wickets and Matthew Andrighetto who took two wickets.
Cricketer of the week in the final week of the year goes to Tytan Vasta for his 16 runs and four wickets for the Hurricanes.

Smith scored a comfortable victory over Paine in the one game which went ahead on Saturday morning.
Smith hit up an impressive 8/135 thanks to some solid contributions from Violet Leach who knocked up 25, Daniel Mitchell who made 21, Brad Whitworth 19 and Wyatt Carter 15. Austin Flack with 3/31 and Ben Virago 3/22 both bowled well for Paine.
Paine had to struggle for runs against Smith's bowling attack and they finished on 14/52. Austin Flack did well to top score with 15 and Ben Virago gave good support with 11 runs.
Reif Leach and Daniel Mitchell destroyed the Paine batting line up, Reif finished with 5/10 and Daniel 4/3 in an impressive display. Violet Leach chipped in with 2/8 and Wyatt Carter took 2/4.
Cricketer of the week goes to Austin Flack for his good all round performance and consistent form over the season.
