Highway Patrol and officers from the Murrumbidgee Police District were out in force over the weekend throughout Leeton and Griffith and several drivers were caught out.
An 18-year-old Leeton man was stopped by police for a random breath test at 6.40am on January 17 on Banksia Avenue in the town.
Police said he returned a positive breath test and he was arrested and taken to the Leeton police station for further a analysis.
IN OTHER NEWS:
This returned an alleged positive reading. As a p-plate driver the man is required by law not to have any alcohol in his system when behind the wheel.
He was subsequently charged with special range drink driving, issued with an infringement notice and his licence was suspended for three months.

A 23-YEAR-OLD Griffith female caught the eye of highway patrol after being clocked alleging going 45km/h over the speed limit.
Police stopped the woman about 7.10pm on January 16 on Burley Griffin Way at Binya after they allegedly detected her speeding.
She was submitted to a breath test, which returned a negative result, however a drug test returned an alleged positive result to cannabis.
She was taken to Griffith Police Station for a further test.
The results of this test are now pending, but the driver was issued with an infringement notice and her licence suspended.

Meanwhile, two drivers in the region have allegedly returned the exact same blood alcohol reading in separate locations in Griffith and Narrandera.
The first occurred on Marcus Street in Griffith at 7.30am on January 17, with the 29-year-old driving returning a positive reading of 0.099 when stopped by police for a random breath test.
The driver was charged with mid-range PCA and his licence suspended.
Later that day at 6pm, Narrandera highway patrol were conducting mobile random breath tests in the town.
Officers stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Douglas Street and Myrtle Street with a 75-year-old male driver allegedly recording a positive roadside breath test.
He was taken to the Narrandera Police Station where a breath analysis reading returned another positive result of 0.099.
The man's licence was suspended and he too was charged with mid-range PCA.
