While the Eagles are yet to win a game in the first grade competition, they were able to take home the first piece of silverware of the season with the Don Coleman Twenty20 Shield in what was the last game they played.
Since then they had their game against Hanwood cancelled due to extreme heat while they had the bye last week.
Exies captain Tom Spry feels that if his side were able to get consistent games, they would be able the young side to find their feet.
"I think it would be better if they younger boys were playing week in week out, so that is probably why we are finding it a little bit hard," he said.
"Everyone has been putting in, and there has been some definite improvement. There have been a couple of games that have been really close as well.
"We had a fantastic chase against Diggers and fell just short. If the boys are able to get a bit of consistent game time that will certainly help."
It has been a tough season for Spry who hasn't been able to take to the field since their second game of the season against Leagues that was washed out due to an ankle injury.
Unfortunately for Spry, it is an issue that doesn't seem to be going away.
"I'm going to see a lady today (Wednesday) to try and get some answers as to why it is still sore," he said.
"t. I don't really know how it has come about, to be honest. It just got a bit swollen and hasn't gone down. I think it might be an old injury that has flared up again, but I'm really not too sure."
One of the shining lights in the tough start to the season has been the performance of Connor Bock.
Bock is currently sitting second in the overall run-scoring so far this year with 139 runs at an average of 69.5 while has also picked up six wickets.
Spry said this was the exact impact he hoped to see from the young allrounder at the start of the season.
"I saw in the rep game that he was able to pick up four wickets as well," he said.
"I said at the start of the year that he would be one guy who we sort of expected a lot from and we need him to stand up, and he has been able to do that."
Meanwhile, for Diggers, it looks like they should be able to complete their third game of the season from their eight games with clear and cool conditions forecast for Saturday.
The first ball will be bowled at 1pm at Hanwood Oval.
