With one more run left in this competition Mayo does not even have to turn up next week to claim the trophy. With 198 points Mayo is 63 points ahead of John Johns in 2nd place. A win is worth 40 points.
Derek Goulett was 2nd in the long course, his net time of 23m04s was a PB and fastest for the day. Tracey Josling again with a PB was placed 3rd.
The short course belonged to the Morsheads. Harry 1st, Chloe 2nd and Kate 3rd - and Nate Mingay just a few seconds back was 4th with the fastest time 14m35s.
The short course trophy is still up for grabs. Chloe with 235 points is only 11 points a head of brother Harry and Nate is only 16 behind Chloe. Chloe's consistent form should see her take the trophy, but stranger things have happened before.
The run before the Melbourne Cup is called the Shank's Pony. This year, race director Neil Palframan has devised a new mystery Shank's Pony, and he is keeping the details all to himself.
Roy Binks, nursing a hamstring injury, is back walking the long course, Stewart Wood is returning to top form.
