While AFL Riverina decided to delay the start of the senior season by a week after the announcement of the AFL Riverina Championship, the South West Junior Football League will get underway this weekend with Griffith Red taking on Griffith White.
Junior Swans president Paul Rogerson felt it was a great way to start the season and said the numbers at training have been the highest they have had.
"We have been training now for seven weeks so it will be similar to training in the way it will be run," he said.
"We have had to put some extra measures in place to record the parents that come and get them to social distance while they are watching the football.
"We need to make sure the kids enjoy every game because it could be their last one for the year because every changes so quickly."
The rules mean that there will be less people able to watch games and players will have to turn up to the ground ready to play, but Rogerson felt these were necessary measures to take.
"We have to look after the community, and we know we will be being watched," he said.
"The risk is obviously a lot smaller risk than when you talk about senior football with the kids all going to school together, but we will be limiting the amount of people who come and watch football this year.
"We will be policing it very strongly. We have to look after the community, and we know we will be being watched."
The season will look slightly different than originally planned with the Northern Jets, Coleambally and Temora withdrawing their junior sides making it a five-team competition.
