Riverina Skips owner Stephen Violi said he knew many people in the community who were going through tough times, and that he hated the idea of anyone missing out on a proper Christmas dinner.
Mr Violi put a call out on social media asking for people to nominate somebody who needed a hand this Christmas, and within a few hours he'd received over 50 referals.
Mr Violi originally intended to help out just one family this Christmas, but given the volume of requests he's decided to broaden the net and help out a few more.
"There are some people who really, really, really deserve it and I want to help them in whatever way I can," Mr Violi said.
"I know it can be tough for some families, so I thought I'd lighten the load the little bit that I can."

Mr Violi said this Christmas initiative was his way of thanking the community for supporting his new Riverina Skips business, which he set up earlier this year with his wife Larissa.
He collects rubbish from around Griffith and the Riverina, and business has so far been booming for the two of them.
Mr Violi said he wanted to give back to the community by making sure the money went back into the town.
"The only reason I can do this is because of the community," Mr Violi said. "Everyone has been so supportive of my new business, so I'm trying to give back."
