And, while there were a few rivalries out in play, most students were excited to have the chance to put their best foot forward.
For Griffith North Public School student Grace Adlington – who took part in every event but the high jump – it was all about the fun and showing her strength.

“I’ve always really been into athletics,” Grace said.
Grace said she earned a second place spot in the 800m sprint, but just missed out on getting a ribbon in the long jump event, taking fourth place.
Lake Wyangan Public School relay team James Snow-Currey, Reif Leach, Romy Piroso, Shiane Mallise, and Violet Leach had a lot to prove in keeping up their reputation, as the team who last year made it to the state competition.
And, Griffith East Public School student Christian Callcut smashed the previous high jump record at 4.54m with his attempt, 4.89m.
Athletes placing either 1st 2nd or 3rd in track events – 1st for the 800m – and either 1st or 2nd in the field events on the day qualify for the Riverina Athletics Carnival.
