CareWest customers are confident about remaining in their family homes for longer ahead of aged care sector reforms set to transform access to home care assistance.
Final preparations are underway for the introduction of reforms which will allow aged care consumers to choose their own providers as part of ongoing My Aged Care consumer directed care reforms.
From February 27 2017, government funding of in-home support in the way of Home Care Packages will go directly to care recipients instead of providers.
This will allow CareWest customers, their carers and families, to have more choice about the support they receive.

CareWest CEO Tim Curran said the changes will assist older Australians to tailor their assistance delivery to suit their individual needs, and will encourage people to be directly involved in the management of their care.
“The introduction of consumer directed care can only be a positive step for all parties involved in the delivery and provision of aged care services,” Mr Curran said.
“The introduction of these reforms sends a clear message to every aged care service provider, including CareWest, that they need to provide best practice services which enable every single client to live their best lives.”
