First responders from the RFS, Fire and Rescue and the police turned out to enjoy a tour around town, along with their families. While originally a footrace, the heat meant it was turned into a vehicular event.
Competitors raced around the centre of town, to Yenda and out to Hanwood to chase down clues and solve puzzles.
The race was an effort to increase socialisation for first responders, who can often struggle with isolation, depression and PTSD.
Fortem Australia, the group responsible for the race, is keen to provide more psychological and support services for first responders but for now, is focusing on social events to remind first responders that they're not alone.
Wrapping up, the 22 entrants came together for a lunch and a surprise appearance from the man in red himself. Santa Claus arrived to chat to the kids present, as well as offering a few surprise lolly bags in the festive spirit.

Nicole Delle Coste, a former police officer and current Fortem Australia Community Engagement Coordinator, said that the day was a huge success.
"It was really great, we had 22 participants turn up. It was a bit hot, we ended up driving around instead of walking because of the heat."
"Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves."
This was Ms Delle Coste's second time in Griffith, and she added that she was appreciative of the hospitality shown.
"It was great seeing that Griffith hospitality, I'll be back as soon as I can. We'll be taking some time over Christmas and the new year and then we'll be looking at other events."
