The Panthers suffered a heavy defeat in their opening-round game with Hanwood before having the bye this weekend.
They will also have the bye next weekend in a quirk because of the shuffled around draw at the start of the season due to the pandemic.
Leagues captain Jimmy Binks knows how important picking up a win is this weekend with the interrupted start they will have.
"It probably wasn't a bad thing to have the bye last weekend, but if we had another loss like we did against Hanwood, it is going to be pretty hard to get back up and about in another fortnight," he said.
"Both on the ladder and mentally. You can think about a lot in two weeks."
The weather goes also have a bearing on the weekend, with rain forecast to fall on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The worst of it is expected to fall on Thursday night into Friday morning with 10-20mm expected, while the forecast for both Friday and Saturday is also looking bleak with a 90 per cent chance of 5-10mm and 1-5mm, respectively.
While it was a tough defeat to Hanwood in their first game of the season, the Leagues skipper took plenty of positives from the clash.

"I think our fielding was relatively good. We only dropped one catch that didn't make too much of a difference in the result," he said.
"I took a lot of positives out of the last game despite being flogged. I thought we had a couple of young blokes bowling incredibly well. If we can work on anything, it is our batting. Coming off a pretty difficult, you are obviously going to be lacking a bit of confidence with the bat."
Meanwhile, for the Cougars, they will be looking to continue their good early form this season, having defeated Exies Eagles in their first game before coming up just short in their clash with Hanwood.
Having failed to make an impression in their first two games captain, Haydn Pascoe will be hoping for a better time out against Leagues. It isn't often Pascoe fails twice in a row, so the Panthers will need to be on the lookout for the Coro skipper and one of their new recruits, according to Binks.
"Having the addition of Hicko (Brendan Hicken) in their side is a major pick up for them, and we have to really focus on how we are going to get him and Haydn out," he said. "I see them as both massive threats in their batting order, and they have a bowling line up that can back it up."
The Panthers will be boosted by the return of Ryan Greenaway, which has Binks excited.
"He is a great bowler, batsman and one of the best fielders in Griffith," he said.
