Always a novelty event the Shanks Pony Cup has an imaginative course each year and 2021 did not disappoint punters.
Brendon Sinclair conceived the idea of a course where runners set off until they reach a point where there are two track options and arrows labelled H or T.
Feral's flipped a coin, heads sent runner on right track and tails sent runners on the left track. The short course had two heads/tails encounters and the long course had 4 or 5 head/tail encounters.
Running ability and favourable flipped coin options resulted in Tara Gunn crossing the line first in the short course.
Some people carried a lucky penny, for example long course winner Lachlan Date ran fast but also carried a lucky penny as his flipped course was only 5.51 km.
This contrasted with Brendon Sinclair who conceived the idea of a flipped coin to determine which course one ran, it would seem his penny fell on the wrong side every time as his course was 7.27 km.

After 10 weeks of virtual running the Feral's were able to meet as a club for the Shanks Pony Cup. To celebrate the return to normal running a BBQ and refreshments greeted Feral's as they crossed the finish line.
The BBQ was managed by head chef Bob Barker and his team of Renae Savage, Debbie and Isabella Salmon. The Shanks Pony Cup marks the end of the Feral calendar. Next week the 7-week Hotfoot competition begins.
