The Eagles took on Hanwood at Jubilee Oval and were able to start the season with a 108-run victory on Wednesday afternoon.
The Exies side won the toss but it was Hanwood how made the early breakthrough with Yash Rathi (0) who fell to the bowling of William Ruggeri (1/17).
Ted Files and Fletcher Robertson were able to get their heads down and pushed their side out of danger and on the way to a competitive total.
Over the course of the next seven overs, the second wicket pairing put on 71 runs before Robertson (53 ret.) retired after posting a half-century.
That didn't slow the scoring as Files was joined by Caelan Culgan and they pushed their side to 126 before Files (45) just short of a fifty when he was dismissed by Owen Robinson (1/11).
Bradley Whitworth (1/8) was able to claim the wicket of Fletcher Kelly (5) but Culgan (32*) and Jordon Williams (32*) added some late runs to see the Eagles close out their innings on 3/181.
The Hanwood side were able to make a fast start with Wyatt Carter and Owen Robinson putting on 15 runs in the first three overs before Robinson (5) fell to the bowling of Kadon Williams (1/9).
Dean Suine found himself on a hat-trick when he picked up the wickets of Carter (14) and Daniel Mitchell (0) but Whitworth was able to see off the hat-trick delivery.

The reprieve was short-lived as Lachlan Wynne (8) and Jonah Serafin (0) fell in quick succession.
Whitworth (23*) kept the score ticking over but the bowling of Robertson (1/4), Files (1/2), Culgan (1/4) and Harry Furner (1/1) claiming the remaining wickets to see Hanwood bowled out for 73.
In the other fourth grade clash, it was a tough start to the season for Diggers who fell to a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of the Coro Cougars.
The Diggers won the toss and elected to bat but it was a tough start with Jaxon Ison claiming the early wickets of Veer Chaudhary (1) and Sameer Dhillon (1).
The difficulty continued as Roy Condon (2/4) claimed the wickets of Eric Molloy (3) and OM Chaudhary (1) and with Connor Moore (7) retiring hurt, Diggers were all out for 23.
While OM Chaudhary (1/7) claimed the wicket of Rayyan Syed (5), Jai Kenny (11*) and Ryan Andrighetto (4*) were able to guide their side to the win with 20 overs remaining.
This Wednesday will see Hanwood look to bounce back when they take on Diggers at Wade High while Leagues take on Coro at Jubilee.
