The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha organisation is a global Hindu denomination devoted to engaging with the broader community and volunteering. Griffith's BAPS community has been seen donating or volunteering for 'Clean Up Australia Day,' blood donation drives and food can collections.
His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the fifth guru of BAPS, described the credo as 'In the joy of others, lies our own." Following this, the community rallied to donate non-perishable foods on October 28 - delivering pasta, beans, tinned tomatoes and other food items to Meals on Wheels Griffith.
Tushar Paladiya helped organise the donation, and said that similar projects were happening around the world.
"This is the difficult times, we're trying to help the community. BAPS is in over 60 countries, helping local communities ... If someone else is happy, we are happy," he said.
Tenille Valensisi, Senior Co-ordinator of Griffith Meals on Wheels, said they were incredibly grateful to have food for the upcoming Christmas period.
"We're just really grateful. This will go a really long way, being all long-life. It will last until Christmas. Things like lentils help cater to people from different cultural backgrounds as well ... we're just really overwhelmed," she said.
"There's always space for a little bit more, sometimes we don't get much. This is especially good, the grocery stores mostly give us fruit and vegetables so this is stuff we didn't have," Ms Valensisi said.

The donations will go into the Hampers of Hope program, which is currently putting together over 200 hampers of food and necessities a week for families in need.
MP Helen Dalton attended the donation.
"It's fantastic, it's really great initiative ... I'm so pleased to have been invited, and to meet leaders of the community," she said.
"I enjoy working with the community, I often find that the journey is just as rewarding as the outcome."
