The Murrumbidgee Local Health District has been aiming to create a new recruitment video to entice specialists and doctors to work in Griffith, and asked council to put some financial support behind the project. The video is estimated to cost $15,000 in total, and MLHD was asking for $10,000 of that to come from council.
Helen Emmerson, the Director of People and Culture at MLHD, said that the partnership was crucial to accurately representing Griffith and drawing in staff.
"Partnering with Griffith City Council to ensure we reflect the unique aspects of the community and region will support our ability to attract and retain permanent professionals essential to the delivery of hospital services," Ms Emmerson wrote in a letter submitted.
While the initial recommendation was for council to offer $5000 as a compromise, councillors at the October 26 meeting were unanimously in favour of pledging the full amount.

Councillor Dino Zappacosta said that it was important that Griffith supports the health industry.
"This is an ideal opportunity to cooperate with the hospital ... We know that when the development is complete, Griffith Base Hospital could be the best in the country, but buildings don't make a hospital," Cr Zappacosta said.
Councillor Simon Croce agreed, and added that the video could be used to draw others in as well.
"The beauty of a video is to showcase Griffith and the Murrumbidgee as a beautiful place to live. We know that once they get here, they see how nice it is and they don't leave, but we have to bring them here first," he explained.
The sponsorship request is currently not accounted for in Griffith's budget, which will mean the most recent review of Griffith's finances will need to be adjusted.
