The hope is that competitions will be able to start after October 25, and there are clubs who are struggling for numbers three weeks before the season.
The situation was looking dire for fourth grade at the start of the week, but numbers have improved over the past couple of days, according to Griffith District Cricket Association president Tim Rand.
"Diggers could use some numbers, and Leaguies could use a couple as well," he said.
"There is a junior registration day this Sunday, so hopefully we will be able to find a couple of kids from that who would like to play.
"At this stage, we could play a normal competition with 11 players because most teams are around the nine, 10 or 11 mark, so if we could get a few more kids to Diggers and Leagues, that would be perfect.
"At the start of the week, it was looking like a seven or eight per team competition, a few came out of the woodwork and registered with Exies, and they have a few too many at the moment, so we can pass on a few to Diggers hopefully to help get the numbers up.
"Third grade is a bit of a worry as well, there are a few teams short there, so I will be sending emails around to the schools today (Friday), and hopefully, we can get a bit of interest."

As for how the season itself will look, that is up in the air due the uncertainty surround the COVID restrictions.
The season was meant to get underway this weekend for firsts and third graders before the season was put on hold.
If the season is able to get underway on October 29, games that were meant to be played before that date will be abandoned, with points being shared between the sides.
Meanwhile, the search for a curator for Hanwood Oval is ongoing, and anyone who has an interest can reach out to Rand on 0400 181 435.
With Westend Oval now unavailable for cricket, the GDCA can't afford to have another ground fall away.
