The announcement late last week will see the Riverina Football League season finish no later than October 3, which is a two-week extension from the original cut-off date.
The decision to extend the season into October, after AFL Riverina initially set the deadline for September 19, will be of great relief to clubs competing in football and netball finals like the Swans, who had five of their eight teams set to compete in the finals series.
"We were always keen on having clearly communicated timelines and what happens at certain points, and that is what that document does," Swans president Jeff Harris said.
"I think that original plan was a little bit too restrictive. The idea of playing into early October was something that all clubs seem to be in support of, and from our playing point of view, it was pretty much the same thing.
"There does come a point where there is too big a break in between, and you are restarting a season that is almost a new one, all be it with potentially two games to decide the premiership."
Should the season be able to resume, it will be two elimination finals with the winners of both games headed into the grand final.
It being a top-four means the under 17.5s and reserve grade would qualify from the footy side while A grade, A reserve and B grade would fly the flag on the netball court.
No premierships will be awarded in AFL Riverina's Farrer and Riverina Leagues if finals can't be completed by this date.

Meanwhile, AFL Riverina also unveiled its plan for finals for its two junior competitions on Friday.
The South West juniors will go straight to grand finals, between first and second on the ladder, on September 18, should lockdown end on Saturday week.
If lockdown is extended, the South West junior season will be cancelled.
Harris said plans are already in the works for a way to finish the season for the juniors if they aren't able to get on the field on September 18.
"The junior guys had come up with an idea that we have a season wrap up and play a bit of a scratch between teams and have it as part of the presentation day, but that will depend on limitations," he said.
