At Tuesday night's council meeting, Griffith councillors will decide whether or not to approve a name change for the $600,000 rose garden, which would see the site dubbed the Civic Gardens.
The call to rename the project was raised at a rose garden working group meeting on August 11, in response to negativity from the community and to make it clear the garden will not just be roses.
At the same meeting it was noted $300,000 has been set aside in the 2021/22 council budget for the gardens and the call was made to start looking for a mobile kiosk or coffee van to operate amongst the flowers.
If the minutes of this meeting are adopted by council on Tuesday night the rose garden will be officially renamed.
The proposed garden has been a controversial topic amongst the community and a group of residents have been pushing for a new regional art gallery to be built on the site currently set aside for the rose garden.

Griffith City Council will also review the delivery program progress report from the final six months of the 2020/21 financial year.
The 84 page document includes a summary of all the projects council undertook over the first half of this year and what stage the projects were at as of July 30.
The report includes information on projects like the Griffith Southern Industrial Link, the Yambil Street upgrade, and the sealing of Boorga and Dickie Roads.
Council will also discuss the request for a street to be named Passey Drive in the future Lake Wyangan residential area.
The proposed street name would honour Richard Passey and his wife Mabel Passey.
Mr Passey settled in Griffith in 1920 and worked as a fruit farmer for 30 years while Mrs Passey worked for the Red Cross and Lake Wyangan Public School and was one of the founders of the Griffith girl guides.
Finally, council will also discuss the council meeting and workshop dates for 2022 and review a floodplain management committee meeting and a Lake Wyangan and catchment management committee meeting.
The council meeting will take place virtually from 7pm on Tuesday, August 8. The meeting will be livestreamed through the Griffith City Council Facebook page.
