A winter themed, community art exhibition is now on display at the Griffith Regional Art Gallery, a collection of works that signify what it it is like to experience winter in the Riverina.

Acting Manager of Griffith Regional Theatre, Margaret Andreazza said that the exhibition was 'bursting' with local talent.
"We are thrilled with the interest in our community exhibition and to be able to showcase so much local talent, with over 70 entries, 'Rethinking the Winter Solstice' certainly captures a variety of unique experiences of winter in the Riverina" Mrs Andreazza said.

Artist Isis-Rae Ronan said participating in the exhibition was a 'wonderful challenge'.
"We are so lucky to have the opportunity to hold a community exhibition especially on the walls that just hung the Archibald Finalists. It was a wonderful challenge and great motivation to keep creative through winter."
Coleambally local and visual arts Honour student Sophie Chauncey said that the exhibition was a good way to showcase some of her nature themed work.
"Usually I like to depict nature scenes or contemporary landscapes, especially surrounding the Murrumbidgee river" Miss Chauncey said.

According to Miss Chauncey, she prefers to use mixed media and collage with a further focus on wildlife and conservation.
"I responded to the exhibition brief in the way of surviving the winter solstice, in reveling in the beauty of the Murrumbidgee river" Miss Chauncey said.
"Winter is such a peaceful time, long frosty walks and appreciating nature."
The 'Rethinking the Winter Solstice' exhibition will be on display until Sunday the 1st of August when winter wraps up, with an official opening being held on Friday the 16th of July after postponement due to COVID-19 restrictions on July 2nd.
