Griffith courthouse staff have donated $2127 to Carevan Griffith, as part of Griffith Court's 2021 regional challenge where staff held morning teas, a raffle, and a chocolate drive to raise the funds.

This year is the second year of the challenge, and the 2019 fundraiser saw money raised for frontline workers receive financial support to purchase food and essential items in partnership with local businesses.
Court registrar Virginia Scanlon said Carevan was chosen to receive the funds due to the amazing work they in the community to assist those who are struggling with poverty, hunger and homelessness.
"It was really hard to decide where to donate the funds as there are so many organisations doing wonderful things in our community," Mrs Scanlon said.
"After such a successful challenge last year, and a good response from staff, we have now decided to make it a yearly event.
"Carevan stands out as they are there for anyone, not just if you are doing it tough, anyone who needs a helping hand through the twists and turns of life is more than welcome."

Carevan co-ordinator Janice Sartor said she was exceedingly grateful for the donation.
"When we serve our meals in the community, we try to bring people together and foster a sense of belonging and support," Mrs Sartor said.
NSW Sheriff's Senior Sergeant Michelle Cheers said as the months start to get colder, the services provided by Carevan would be especially needed.
"The work done by Carevan volunteers to serve healthy meals is a really practical community support, in particularly through the colder months," Mrs Cheers said.
Griffith Carevan is run every Wednesday between Thomas Place, Dave Taylor Park and Parkinson Crescent.
A hot meal, activities and support are provided in a non judgmental manner from 5:30pm onwards.
