A strong first half from West Wyalong proved to be too much for defending champions Darlington Point Coleambally to overcome when the two sides met in Darlington Point on Sunday.

The Roosters were able to strike first on home turf with Thomas Lynch getting over the line in the sixth minute.
The Mallee Men wasted no time hitting back on the scoreboard with a try four minutes later while Luke Chandler-Van Vliet and co-coach Jake Goodwin crossed in the space of eight minutes to give their side a 18-6 advantage midway through the first half.
West Wyalong scored a fourth unanswered before DPC were able to hit back with Ben Jeffery getting over before Mitchell Pettit scored for the Mallee Men to give them a 30-12 lead at the interval.
Once again it was the Roosters who started brightly in the second half, with Jeffery scoring his second of the afternoon just two minutes after the break.
The margin was pulled back to just eight points with 16 minutes gone in the second half when Noah Hey was able to get over the line.

The home side moved to within a try just four minutes later when Jeffery completed his hat-trick for the afternoon, his second in two games this season, and midway through the second half the game was evenly poised.
The Mallee Men were able to push the score back out to 36-26 with a try soon after and while both side's pushed hard over the final quarter of an hour neither side could break through to see West Wyalong take a 10-point win.
The Roosters face a tough test in Leeton next week while the Mallee Men face Yanco-Wamoon.
