Two Sydney Thunder stars will visit Griffith this weekend as part of a two-day Cricket NSW showcase in support of the local cricket community.
All-rounders Chris Green and Lauren Smith will be joined by CNSW scholarship coach Hannah Trethewy in running clinics for girls and boys, a coaches workshop and participating in a mental health workshop in conjunction with local mental health professionals.
The group arrive in Griffith on Thursday and will lead a course for local coaches in the afternoon at Exies Oval before the mental health workshop for those in the local sports community for anyone aged over 18 at Sporties.
Friday will see kids aged between 5 and 15 take part in a free Sydney Thunder Junior Clinic at Exies Oval running from 3-4.30pm.
Green and Lauren will then be special guests at the Griffith District Cricket Association presentation night, where they will present awards and mingle with players, volunteers and their family.
Cricket NSW Cricket Manager for Murrumbidgee, Kelly Meddings, said the visit was a huge boost for the local sports community.
"Cricket NSW and the Sydney Thunder are great supporters of regional NSW, and this visit really is a 'whole of cricket' showcase with clinics for kids and coaches, a mental health workshop and a chance for local cricketers to meet Chris and Lauren," Meddings said.
"Our purpose is to inspire people to play and love cricket, and all of these activities will give the local Griffith community an opportunity to do that."
