Both sides have been able to hit their straps since they returned from the festive period break are yet to taste defeat which has seen the Panthers rise into first place while Hanwood is on an upward surge which has seen the rise to third and close to within touching distance of second.
Despite a couple of absentees this weekend, Leagues captain Jimmy Binks is full of confidence heading into the game.
"Missing Reece Matheson is a big loss. It will be a bit difficult to find a wicketkeeper," he said.
"Boz (Daniel Bozic) might not be able to play. Having Plum (Paul Plummer) there and young Noah Gaske again we are pretty confident in the side that we will be able to put together without two or three blokes, so it's good to have that depth."
With the addition of Plummer back into the side on a more regular basis, it gives Binks someone with plenty of his experience at his disposal to bounce ideas off.
"He doesn't try to overpower you, but he does make the subtle remark every now and then if you need to make a bit of a change," he said.
"It is great to have him there and pointing me in the right direction."
The Panthers are on a five-game unbeaten run which stretches back until the last time the sides met just before Christmas and Binks feels that the success comes down to instilling a simple mentality.
"I think everyone has realised the potential that we carry and that is the main motivator," he said.
"I'm a big believer in that you don't play cricket to come second. I'm going to spend all afternoon in the heat or whatever weather is thrown at us to come second, and I'm trying to get that mentality through the group.
"Reece Matheson has really stepped up in terms of not necessarily statistically, but he is showing signs of being incredibly keen.
"Even just having Plum coming back and having a bit of commitment from Ryan Greenaway."
If the predicted rainfall doesn't hit Griffith on Friday, the game will get underway at 1pm.
