After falling to Lake Albert in the major semi-final, Hanwood were able to bounce back with a 3-1 win over Leeton in the preliminary final to secure a shot at redemption.

Coach David Bastinon said his boys know what to expect after a physical encounter with the Sharks a fortnight ago.

"They rattled us from the start with some hard challenges and being physical," he said.

"The boys were put off their game from that. They know what to expect this weekend because they have gone through it so hopefully they can reverse the result this weekend."

The brand of football the side has been playing this season has caught the eye of their opponents throughout the season which is pleasing for the coach.

"We have received comments from the opposition teams in Wagga, and they are impressed by how the guys keep possession and knock the ball around," he said.

"That is something that you work to when you are the coach. You have your good and bad days like everyone else does, but for the majority of the season we have played that brand of soccer, and it has been really beneficial for us."

With the third graders being on the younger side, it holds Hanwood in a good position moving into the future.

"Most of our side is 15,16 or 17, so it is a real achievement to get to where they are," he said.

"We have a heap of great juniors coming through, and we can give them that stepping stone now to play third grade.

"We have had a couple of boys who have stepped up to play reserve grade and first grade this year. It is the platform that every club needs and I'm proud to be a part of that."
