Most Football Wagga sides are preparing for their first week of finals - except for Hanwood FC's Leonard Cup team.
The Leonard Cup finals will have five teams play over three weeks, which means the minor premiers will sit this first weekend out.
The schedule also means Hanwood FC get one shot to progress, and if they lose on October 18 - it will be the end of their season.
"Second and third get a second chance, our present is this weekend off," coach Anthony Zuccato said.
"Which after a long weekend, is not what I wanted."
Normally a five team finals series will be played over four weeks, and the mens' competitions are playing four teams over three weeks, which provides a second chance to the minor premiers.
Zuccato said the team would be sitting back and watching the outcome of the match between the Cootamundra Strikers and Tolland Wolves at Rawlings Park in Wagga.
Zuccato said it would be a "good game".
"They're both good teams, Tolland's probably been one of the strongest over the season, but Coota isn't too far behind and on their day there's no reason they can't beat Tolland," he said.
"Whoever it is, we've got to be ready for them."
Hanwood FC's semi-final match will be played on October 18 at Rawlings Park in Wagga.
