Fresh turf has been laid completing the first stage of the project.
Around 50 people including children, parents, grandparents and supporters gathered on August 22 to put help cut and lay the grass.
There was around 400 square metres of fresh turf laid.
Yenda Skate Park Community and Organisation volunteer Ann Furner said it was "big job" but a great day as the residents showed their support for the skate park.
"It was such a nice atmosphere. Everyone was so happy to be there and help out," Ms Furner said.
"Everyone who pitched in got covered in mud, but nobody cared.
"Berton Vineyards donated the turf. They have a turf section at the back of their winery."
A staff member helped the volunteers with the cutting of the turf before it was loaded into utes and trailers for the short drive to Memorial Park.

Ms Furner said the day was a demonstration of Yenda's community spirit.
"The community has come together around the skate park," she said.
As the work was completed, Ms Furner said some of the teenagers wanted to help raise money for building a shade sail over the park, and an aluminium can and plastic bottle recycling bin will be used to start raising money for it.
Ms Furner said it showed the community's younger residents had really taken ownership of the skate park and wanted to look after it and keep it clean.
Yenda's skate park was built with funding from the NSW Government's My Community Project program, which provided $200,000 after Murray electorate residents voted for it.
Construction of the park finished in August and an official opening of the skate park is planned for September.
