Off the back of a 6-6 draw with Tumut last weekend, the Blueheelers were able to rebound with a 36-6 victory over Southcity Bulls on Saturday.
It was a damp beginning to the game, which lead to the start of the game being a battle between the forward packs for the first 10 minutes.
Yenda was able to make the most of a Southcity dropped the ball while defending their line and quick hands saw Judd Stevenson break the Bulls defence and run 60 metres to score.
The Blueheelers back it up in the next set with a kick from Jyden Harris finding touch 10 metres out from the Southcity line.
Yenda pinned in their own 20, and after causing a turnover, Omega Liu darted out from dummy half to score next to the post.
Elvis Nauer provided a powerful run off the Southcity restart and got the Blueheelers to within 30 metres of the Bulls line. A precise kick from Harris on the final tackle provided Bodean Tereva the chance, and after rising above the pack, he scored in the corner to give Yenda a 12-0 lead at the break.
Yenda made a strong start to the second half with the Bulls coughing up the ball 10 metres out from their own line, and Oliver Bartter was on hand to pick up the loose ball and dived over for the Blueheelers fourth.
The Blueheelers dominated that point onwards with their defence holding strong before Stevenson raced the away to score his second under the post.
Yenda returned the kick strongly and once again got into a strong position with Lui making another dart from dummy to score his second of the afternoon.
The Blueheelers hit the scoreboard with final play of the day with Jack Neyland running 25 metres to score under the post and see the Yenda side come away with a 36-6 win.
Coaches Luke Farmer and Dean Piva have been happy with the 16s start to the season but know this weekend will be a tough test when they take on the top of the table Junee Diesels.
Meanwhile, the under 18s Yenda side will be looking to rebound from a 26-10 loss at the hands of Wagga Brothers.
The Yenda side made a strong start to capitalise on a mistake from the Brothers defence to score with their first touch of the ball and they lead 10-6 at the break.
Brothers picked up their intensity in the second half and with a well executed game plan came away with a 26-10 win. Yenda also suffered two shoulder dislocations in the loss and both players will miss this weekend's game.
The 18s will take on their coach Nigel Plum's junior club in the Kangaroos this weekend.
