Chloe Morshead still leads the short competition but by a reduced margin. After last week's strong performance Morshead's handicap was increased by 45s while Copper Savage who remains in 2nd place maintained the same handicap. Morshead's 32-point lead over Savage still leaves her in a comfortable position to win the short course Surfer competition provided her net time remains below 20m30s.
Last week saw 108 runners take to the field which was a new record for this competition. A number of Feral's returned to the field after a long absence with two of them in the winner's circle. Returning from a break, Stephen Munro took line honours in the long course followed by Derek Goullet and David Heffer.
It was a big day in the Munro household, Angus Munro took line honours in the short course competition, returning after a break Luke McWhirter was second followed by Maggie Croce.
Mark Andreazza was the fastest Feral on the day followed by Hamish Gunn and Rodney Savage. While the first two are still considered "pups", Savage in his 40's and Heffer in his 50's prove that there is still active life in old bones.
Not all Feral's strive for fast times, a significant number like to walk, talk and take in the seasonal scenery changes on Scenic Hill. For example, Lyn Potter and Judith Cimador spent a bit over 11/2 hours on the long course Saturday afternoon while midweek sometime Donna Jackson, Janelle Toole and Anna Gesuale all recorded 1.26.00hr for the long course. The point is that Feral's are more about getting out to enjoy some exercise rather than winning.
Subject to no change in NSW Government regulations, the Feral's meet at the green water tower opposite Pioneer Park every Saturday for a 4:30pm start. People interested in friendly social running or walking are welcome to join the club.
