Central North Police District officers stopped a Holden ute north of Nyngan just before 8pm on April 10 for a random breath test, which returned a negative result.
After talking to the occupants of the vehicle - three males from Griffith aged 52, 23 and 13 respectively - police established they were travelling for non-essential reasons and issued them a warning to return to Griffith.
Police then saw the same vehicle at 2.10pm on April 11 at a truck stop north of Bourke at a truck stop along the Mitchell Highway, with the occupants of the vehicle having set up a swag on the side of the road.
The two adults were issued with a $1000 fine for ignoring ministerial directions.
