After Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW sent out a strong recommendation to all community cricket competitions to be cancelled on Tuesday, the board of Griffith Cricket voted on whether to continue or not with a final count of 6-5 deciding that the season would be cancelled.
"It certainly came upon us very quickly yesterday," president Brenton Harrison said.
"I was listening to the radio yesterday morning, and they said there was about to be an announcement from Cricket Australia.
"Didn't matter which way it went whether it was six-five to continue or not, I feel that if you did a survey of the whole association, it would have been split right down the middle.
It is the hardest thing I have had to do in my reign

"Unfortunately that was the way we had to go, and it was very hard to make that decision for the committee members, and we had to do it quickly given we had a fourth-grade grand final on Wednesday night.
"It is the hardest thing I have had to do in my reign."
With the season now cancelled the decision needs to be made on who takes home the title with Harrison saying a decision on that will be made in the coming days.
"Going off the advice from above us, they say that those who finish on top should be awarded the right to be declared winners," he said.
"We aren't in the position where the minor premiers were bundled out in straight sets, particularly in third and fourth grade.
"If we had that scenario, it might be a bit different."
The 2019/20 presentation night which was scheduled to take place on April 17 however it is now likely to be cancelled due to the guidelines issued by the Australian Government related to social gatherings.
"We floated the idea of doing it outdoor to allow more people, but it keeps getting tighter, and it might just be best not to have one and just close the whole season down," he said.
