The Aisling Distillery's Dry Gin Murrumbidgee was among the bronze medal winners in the Classic Dry Gin category at the Australian Gin Awards and marks the first award for the distillery.
Gincrafter at The Aisling Distillery Michelle Burns said it was "very pleasing" to pick up the accolade as the gin is only a new creation by the distillery.
"As far as we're aware, this is the first gin for the Riverina, the first gin distilled by a female in the area and the first one to pick up an award," Mrs Burns said.
"To be a relatively new product amongst 71 other distilleries that have been around for eight, 10 years - to be up against those and actually receive an accolade... it meant a lot."
Mrs Burns said there was a conscious decision to create the gin using produce predominately grown in the Riverina and it showcases the ability of the region to produce more than just quality produce and wine.
"We've got everything here at our fingertips," Mrs Burns said.
"We've got lemons, we've got limes, we've got oranges... why not support other local people in town and be able to then produce something that is predominately grown here in the Riverina?
"The response in town has been fantastic."

The gin, which was launched in October after months of development and fine tuning, marks the first gin offering by the distillery and Mrs Burns said the distillery aims to further expand their range over the next year.
"We're looking at a native gin native to the area and a navy strength [version]... our overall 12 month plan is to have a distillery and cellar door next door," Mrs Burns said.
