Motorsport fanatics from across the nation descended upon Griffith for the fifth and final round of the Southern Star Kart Series.

The event saw racers as young as eight years old to those in their mid-sixties separated into classes, revved up, and sent out onto the track for some scorching hot laps.
Round one of the competition was held in Canberra, followed by Grenfell, Wagga, Orange and now Griffith.
President of the Griffith Kart Club, Wal Snaidero, said the weekend went down as a huge success. Hundreds of families turned up for the occasion, mixing and mingling with one another for a fun, friendly holiday.
"Karting is probably one of the friendliest, most family-oriented sports," Mr Snaidero explained.
"We've met so many people in this sport during our (Griffith Kart Club) seven years, and it's probably one of the best times you'll spend with your kids."
Caravans and tents were littered throughout the kart club paddock on White Road, with clear excitement present on the face of every racegoer. This lent the day a Bathurst 1000-type feel, as the kids played tag and the parents cooked barbecues.
"When I see kids out there with their dads and their mums, it's just awesome," Mr Snaidero said.
"To have kids come out and work with their parents on karts and understand how things work, and what speed is like, they feel pain and they feel gain."
