The shop run by the Lions Club of Griffith will be selling tiles which were originally part of the centenary wall project, a tribute unveiled last year celebrating Griffith's centenary in 2016.

Lions Club of Griffith president Brian Bortolin said the tiles are being put up for sale because the club was looking to pass them onto the community.

"The first lot weren't up to specifications [for the wall]," Mr Bortolin said.

More than 200 tiles are for sale, with each tile showcasing a moment or location in the history of the town through images provided by the Griffith Genealogical & Historical Society.

Historical photos of sites such as schools, churches and shops are all up for purchase, along with photos of moments such as the Yenda floods in 2011.

However, not every photo is completely identifiable and members of the Lions Club are looking to the community to help with the identification of certain tiles.

In particular, the club is looking to identify those involved in an Australian Women's Land Army picture.

"We have no idea who they are," Mr Bortolin said.

"They might not even be still alive... but at least their kids or their grand-kids should recognise a couple of photos like that around.

"Whoever identifies the lot of them and tell me who they are can have this tile for nothing.

"If the names come up, we'll probably know them all, they're probably all local girls."

Tiles are on sale for 10 dollars each with all proceeds going to the Griffith Breast Cancer Support Group and Country Hope.

Chairman of the centenary wall committee and Lions Club member Les Corner said the tiles make great conversation pieces.

"They are talking points," Mr Corner said.

"There is a myriad of ways you can have these tiles in your house."

The shop is open until September 20.

Those curious can visit the store between Sanity and the newsagent at Griffith Central from 10am to 4pm on weekdays and 10am to 2pm on weekends.
