The goal came just after halftime with Nick Kennedy able to get to the far post to meet a cross from Joey Schirripa to take home the chance.
Tolland put pressure on the Hanwood defence in the final 10 minutes, but they were able to withstand the pressure to come away with the three points.
Hanwood coach was pleased to see his side able to hold on to the lead in the dying stages.
"It was a relief that we were able to hold on at the end," he said.
"A couple of weeks ago against Lake Albert we were 2-0 up and let the game slip, so it was a good step forward for us."
Agresta doesn't feel that the table position truly reflects the quality of opposition they were up against.
"They were really able to push us at the end of the game," he said.
"We knew that they were going to come at us and we were just able to cling on."
The performance of Kennedy was also pleasing for the Hanwood coach.
"Everyone after the game agreed that Nick had been the best one out there," he said.
"Pleased that he was able to score because he worked his socks off. He has had a couple of down weeks, so hopefully, this will help to give him a boost."
Hanwood does have one concern coming out of the game with Sevi Tropea having to come off just before halftime after picking up a knock to his shin, but Agresta is hopeful that is isn't too serious.
