The Girls played and defeated the Gosford City Rebels in the semi final 48-28, this saw the Demons play the Orange eagles again in a final. Getting away to a comfortable start the girls soon started to enforce their dominance around the court to run out comfortable winners. Timeeka Coleman, Emmerson Waide and Tiare-June Orake continued on with their form throughout the tournament.
The under 14 boys travelled to Gosford and found the competition was a lot stronger from what they were used to. Each game saw the boys improve and saw their efforts rewarded with a solid win over Gosford 40-33. Emanuel Orake is improving each time he takes the courts and showed that his time a t the TAP camp has helped his game. Mason Salvestro and Alex Minato played strongly.
The under 18 boys finished their year off with a 3rd placing in the division 2 finals on the Monday morning. Going away with 7 players was always going to be tough but the side put it together in their semi-final to surprise the Newcastle Hunters 48-44.
This saw the boys play Mossvale again in the major semi-final. The boys tried to get into the very physical game but could not match up against their big guys. It was full credit to the boys, no one expected them to win their semi-final and to make it to the major final was a bonus. Isaac Testoni and Liam Blanch once again led the charge and our bigs, Harry Laraunt and Sam Payne battled hard.
Thursday sees the Autumn competition for the Griffith Juniors come to an end with the grand finals. The under 11's will get the evening under way with their games starting at 4.30pm in the boys grand final the Beyond banks red will play the green side in what should be a close game.
The 11 girls will also see the Beyond Banks sides play each other, this should be a great game after both sides had to work hard in the semi-finals Monday night. This will be followed by the 13 boys Tigers taking on the Nuggets in yet another close one.
The 13-15 girls finals sees the Sparks play the Rockets at 5.30pm then the 15 boys game is at 6.15pm with the Cannons taking on the wildcats in their decider and the final game of the night will see the game get under way at 7.15pm with Yenda Prods Fuel taking on the CFCU green, this will be a top game to end the Autumn competition. The success of the 17s program has been a positive move for the association which in turn will start to move into the senior grades. It is envisaged to get the program running with the girls over the next couple of seasons.
