Marian Catholic College principal Alan Le Brocque said that out of 359 HSC exams taken at the school this year there were about 126 papers which scored band fours, meaning marks of between 70 and 79 per cent correct.
Meanwhile about 122 of the Marian College’s HSC papers reached scores of band fives and over, meaning marks of over 80 per cent correct answers.

Marian College students Branavan Thevashangar, Sristhti Chatterji and Will Chant each scored two band six’s in their HSC exams, with each of the three students scoring one band six in their biology exam.
“I think we had a really good biology class, I guess we just worked together a lot,” Sristhi said.
“I’ve been looking at some medicine and some psychology courses for next year.”
Branavan said that if he does not get into medicine next year he will look at studying engineering while Will said he is interested in studying forensic science.
The higher number of band fours, fives and sixes helped rank Marian Catholic College as the 359th best scoring school in the 2018 NSW HSC.
Griffith High’s statewide ranking for HSC scores shot forward 175 places this year to the rank of the 358th best scoring school in NSW, compared to the rank of 535th last year.
Meanwhile Wade High fell in its statewide rank becoming the 395th best scoring school in NSW this year, down from 354th in 2017.
Murrumbidgee Regional High School principal Peter King said Griffith High’s scores “certainly bodes well for HSC results at MRHS in 2019.”
At Griffith High and Wade High Mr King said that 13 HSC results were in the band six range, while 78 were in the band five range, 54 of which were achieved at Wade High.
