With several subjects like English already done and dusted, Charlie Tiaina, Sineytah Monaghan and Scott Mallise from Griffith High School are taking a bit of a breather before their next batch.
The three share their study tips, future plans with the benefit of hindsight behind them.
Sineytah’s life is a juggling act with part-time work at Rossie’s Foodworks, a trainee-ship at the bank as well as combating the HSC, so being organised and able to prioritise is a skill that keeps her in check.
“I like to write down things on the board, so I can see what I have to do when. Taking regular breaks is also really important so you don’t burn out.”
Having fingers in many pies shows her dedication to her goal to become a police officer working in child protection.
Charlie deals with the almighty stress of exams through his passion for music.
“For me, I cope by listening to music – RNB, and Hip Hop, it just relaxes me and helps me switch off for a while,” Charlie explained.
“I play the piano, guitar and I sing, so music is the way for me.”
With the focus of becoming a teacher and studying education at university, Scott has come out of the English exams hoping for a Band Five.
“For the English exam, I had prepared responses that I changed around to suit the questions, however it was good that the questions were close to the ones I was expecting even though the papers themselves were a little different to the trials,” Scott said.

“If I would give anyone advice, it would be to start preparing for the HSC in Year 11. I didn’t, and I’ve been trying to cram it all in, but if I had started sooner it would’ve made everything easier.”
