After winning the toss and electing to bat the Leeton side would have been looking to make a good start when openers Matt Dedini and Jason Burke strolled to the crease.
The pair got the Leeton side to 21 before Matt Dedini (4) was dismissed by Charlie Cunial (1/11) before Mitchell Williams-Hedges (1/20) struck with his fourth ball of the day to remove Burke (12).
Hugh Collins and Leeton captain Nathan Carn looked to restore some balance to their side’s innings and were able to get the score to 42 before Carn (14) was dismissed by Connor Bock (1/27).
Leeton looked to keep the scoreboard ticking over with Collins joined by Josh Lanham and the pair 46-needed runs to get the Wolves to 88 before Lanham (28) became the first of Dean Bennett’s wickets.
Trouble struck 12 runs later as Lucas Conlan (2/31) took the wickets off Angus Boulton (7) and Rhett MacGregor (0) in the space of two deliveries.
When Collins (28) fell to the bowling of Bennett (4/34), only Kyle Pete (25) and Danyon Evans (10) were able to get a start to see Leeton bowled out for 147.
Griffith looked to make short work of the chase with Bennett and Reece Matheson wasting no time putting runs on the board as they got the home side to 26 off three overs before Matheson was dismissed by Evans (1/21).
Bennett and Jamie Winkler kept Griffith progressing comfortably towards the target as when the side past the 10-over make they were sitting on 1/72.
While there was a slight stumble when Bennett (38) and Jamie Winkler (18) fell within three runs of each other, the Valeri brothers, Tom and Theo, kept up the good work set by the top three batsmen.
After a partnership of 39 runs, MacGregor (2/13) took the wicket of Theo (12) and Tom (32) Valeri but Griffith was well ahead on the run rate just requiring 18 runs with 24 overs remaining in the day.
Griffith didn’t need the remained of the overs as Andrew Potter (10*) and Ryan Greenaway (3*) saw the home side maintain possession of the Creet Cup with the five-wicket win. The next challenge for the cup could come on November 18.
