The second-grade season got off to a good start for the Coro Cougars after they picked up a big win over Hanwood at Hanwood Oval on Saturday.

Hanwood made the bold call to send the Cougars into bat, and after a 14-run opening stand, Justin Moat (12) fell to the bowling of Ben McInnes.
Brendan Taylor and Peter Taprell (12) put on 12 runs before the Cougars lost three wickets for 10 runs with McInnes (3/21) picking up another two wickets while Chris Barbagallo took the wicket of Taylor (7).
Nick Witherspoon came to the crease and steadied the ship as with Dion Pascoe (12) they put on 34 runs before Pascoe fell to Kym Wheeler.
This brought Andrew McIntyre and Witherspoon together and as the pair both posted half-centuries in an 89-run stand saw the Cougars reach 7/187 after their 40 overs.
While Hanwood made a strong start with an opening stand of 23 runs between Reed Bunyan (14) and Michael Crosato (9), but it went downhill from there.
Pascoe (4/10) and McIntyre (4/7) did the damage with the ball as Hanwood lost 10 for 32 to be bowled out for 55 in 16.4 overs.
Leagues were able to make an excellent start to the season with a win over Diggers.
After winning the toss the Panthers were able to set Diggers a total of 8/138 thanks to contributions from Kierren Williams (42), Daniel Bozic (16), Jack Johnstone (17), Fawad Shah (15*) and Jackson Hassan (11*)
Greg Collins (3/19) and Matthew Butcher (2/32) were the main wicket takers for Diggers.
Diggers gave themselves a fighting chance with Butcher (31*), Brett Owen (25) and Brian Corner (15) doing well with the bat however the bowling of Shae Prudham (3/32), Teei Piawi (2/8) and Williams (2/3) helped to restrict Diggers to 112 off 34.4 over to see the Panthers come away with a 26-run win.
A robust top order performance from Dan Brady (43) and Scott Campbell (34) got Exies off to a good start.
A strong bowling effort from Phillip Turtle (5/36) helped to restrict the runs as Exies were bowled out for 128 in 27.4 overs.
Jack Weymouth-Smith (57) and Sri Puram (23) top-scored for Coleambally as Exies’ John Gallagher (5/35) did the damage with the ball as they came away with a 13-run win.
