Under 12’s will be participating in the Derek Rogers Cup which involves teams from Leeton, Wagga and South West made up from Temora , Cootamundra and Gundagai.
Games are based on 40 overs per side and there is one round of games. Griffith will have the benefit of some good young players who gained experience last season. Players such as Cooper Rand, Christian Dall’Est and Owen Robinson give the team a solid nucleus on which to build.
Under 14s play in the Geoff Lawson Cup against Leeton, Wagga, Hay, Cootamundra and Temora. Games are played over 50 overs per side over one round of games.
Griffith’s side should include some talented young cricketers including Hayden Forner, Ben Signor, Jake Rand, Noah Gaske, Billy Evans and Mason Ashcroft.
This side went very close to winning at the under 12 level two seasons ago and is expected to perform well in 2018/19.
The under 16s play in the Warren Smith Cup which is contested against Wagga, Leeton and a combined Cootamundra, Temora and Gundagai side.
Griffith has a bit of talent in this age group and good results are expected from James Roche, Aditha Jayasuriya, Angus, Tom and Ollie Bartter, Harry Rowston and Kyle Bennett.
The under 13s play in the Milliken Shield against Hay, Coleambally, Narrandera, Barellan and Hillston/Lake Cargelligo. It is a Murrumbidgee based competition aimed at keeping the game going in the smaller towns.
It is played over 30 overs per team and gives everyone a chance to bowl and bat. The evenness of the competition has seen Coleambally and Hillston/Lake win the last two titles since the competition was revamped.
