The operation is not being run in conjunction with a special event or holiday time, which reinforces the message that responsible driving is something to be always done, not just at the peak times.
Starting on midnight on Friday August 24 and wrapping up midnight on Sunday August 26, the operation will be targeting drink and drug driving, speeding, seat belt safety as well as distracted driving.
Acting Inspector Lucas Cole said they will be targeting main roads and back roads.
“If you are thinking of drinking and driving there is a high likely-hood that you will be caught,” Acting Inspector Cole said.

There will be a added police, both high-way patrol and general duties officers, with rest days cancelled in order to man the roads.
“Our focus will be on reducing the number of serious injury collisions and fatalities in the district,” Acting Inspector Cole said.
“Everyone knows we are out there on the long weekends and holiday periods, but it’s important for people to know we run these operations at any time.”
