Griffith Real Estate (GRE) and the Griffith Cancer Council are behind the initiative of October Pink Up Griffith month, where the town is encouraged to wear and decorate their businesses pink; and donate to the McGrath Foundation, which raises money to place breast care nurses in communities.
At the first official event on the Pink Up calendar, almost 150 people dressed in the girliest of colours and paid $20 a head to have fun at the Bingo event at the Leagues Club.
A number of local businesses donated the prizes, so all entry money could go straight to the McGrath Foundation charity.
Luke Beltrame and Chad McLean, rising stars from the band The Stringers, also donated their time to provide the musical entertainment.
Tony Santolin of Griffith Real Estate is hoping more than $100,000 can be raised this month.
The month just gets better with a Pink Luncheon, 12pm to 2pm October 6 at Griffith Real Estate, and Ladies Night, October 20, coming up.
Luke and Chad will be back – in their other band Side Effect they will perform for the ladies on October 20 .
