There have been reports across media current local member Adrian Piccoli has told colleagues he'll leave parliament before the end of the year.
Mr Piccoli has not responded to requests to confirm or deny these reports.
Mr Borsak said Mr Piccoli’s resignation would be an opportunity, “for people in Murray to choose a candidate who’s prepared to fight for the region”.
"Piccoli has been an absentee landlord who spends all his time in Sydney. How much time does he spend in his electorate? What's he done for anyone in the electorate?"
The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party stunned the Nationals by taking the seat of Orange in a by-election in November with a swing of more than 20 per cent against the NSW government.
Mr Borsak suggested Mr Piccoli's reason for an early exit may be an attempt to maximise his future pension, with Parliamentary pensions based on an average of pay throughout his service.
"He's on the backbench now, so his average is falling... it's in his interest to go sooner rather than later".
The Area News contacted several government departments on how parliamentary pensions are calculated and did not receive a response.
Farmer Helen Dalton, who ran as an independent candidate for Murray at the 2015 NSW state election, said she will not make a decision on whether she will run, “until things are confirmed”.
Ms Dalton said if Mr Piccoli does resign, “he would be putting his personal interest ahead of the party and electorate”.
Mr Piccoli's last public statement on his future was at a press conference in Griffith in August 17.
“You haven’t flagged your intention to leave the party,” a reported asked.
“No,” Mr Piccoli said.
“You won’t be sending Murray to a byelection”
“No,” he said.
Mr Borsak said the “absolutely disgraceful” cuts to health services in Griffith and Temora would be big byelection issues.
“They spend $1.5 billion to move the powerhouse museum to Parramatta because someone in government has a developer mate who thinks it's a good idea.”
"And yet they cut the obstetric theatre in Temora because the aircontioning wasn't working. I mean, what planet are we living on?"
“You could build five country hospitals with $1.5 billion”.
“It’s time to throw-off the party who is just doing whatever the city Liberal Party tell them to do, and elect a Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party candidate.”
Mr Borsak said the Nationals have also failed to deliver on water, education and transport for the bush.
A by-election in Murray is expected to cost around half a million dollars.
