Reports suggest Mr Piccoli has announced his intentions to fellow MPs, which reportedly include taking up a full-time role at the University of New South Wales.
Mr Piccoli’s departure would trigger the Berejiklian Government’s third state by-election this year.
Mr Piccoli and the Premier are yet to make comment.
